About the Attorney

Javier Puertas

ATTORNEY AT LAW

An immigrant himself, Attorney Javier Puertas was born and raised in Pinar del Río, Cuba. From a young age, he and his family immigrated to the United States, and he was drawn to immigration matters due to what he and his family had gone through to reach this country.

Attorney Puertas attended Miami Dade College, where he received his associate’s degree before transferring to Florida International University, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice. He then attended the Nova Southeastern University Shepard Broad College of Law. During his tenure in law school, he prominently focused his studies on International Law. He was a published author in the ILSA Journal of International and Comparative Law, where he wrote about the difference immigration laws between the United States and Europe, before becoming the Editor in Chief of the same Journal.

Attorney Puertas is fluent in English and Spanish and focuses on all matters of immigration law including asylum defense, waivers, naturalization, family reunification, and business immigration. His experience in both life and academia ensures that his clients receive the best and honest representation.
